About Me
Hello and welcome! My name is Angie.
I am an Accountant by trade as well as an Enrolled Agent (EA), a
federally authorized tax practitioner legally recognized by the IRS. This means I'm granted unlimited rights in representing clients before the IRS nationwide. I am deeply rooted in the Washington, Oregon and Arizona areas and am happy to arrange meetings in person. I am able to file any applicable state taxes nationwide as well.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know more about me and my business. Without a doubt, my most fulfilling passion is helping others, whether that means providing tax preparation advice, services or just tackling life issues together and providing support. I love sharing my work and ideas, especially in the areas of tax as well as my vast knowledge of the internal and external workings of the IRS. With a strong background in tax and accounting, I spent the last 17+ years gaining skills auditing tax returns as an IRS Agent (in Arizona, Seattle and Portland). My journey has taken me through a vast array of businesses. I learned so many fascinating things during my years as a field auditor. I have worked with taxpayers who are wage earners, people with small businesses, high wealth taxpayers, as well as large and international corporations.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with family (we’re 5 plus 1 goldendoodle) and friends, running off to yoga and traveling whenever I can. Getting to know people and making personal connections has brought so much joy to my life. I believe in lifelong learning and strive to grow personally and professionally with every new challenge I take on. My Story
Hello, I'm Angie, the founder of The Modern Preparer.
I have lived in the Seattle area for 16 years now. I was raised in Portland and grew up spending most of my free time involved in the local Korean community. I also have many fond memories of spending my weekends on my great grandmother's farm in Eastern Washington. My college years as well as the first half of my career were spent in Arizona.
In 2023, I left my job at the IRS after losing my mother unexpectantly to cancer. My priorities shifted, which changed my perspective on life significantly.
Through my personal loss, I gained a wealth of knowledge in South Korean tax law and culture. I worked together with a Korean attorney as well as legal Korean interpreter to complete complex issues after my mother's passing. For the most part, I am able to conversate, read and write in Korean as well. My team is here to help with any Korean/American issues.
I've realized my happiness lies in helping others, so here I am now! Please reach out to me for anything!
