About Me
Hello and welcome! My name is Angie.
I am an Accountant by trade as well as an Enrolled Agent (EA), a
federally authorized tax practitioner legally recognized by the IRS. This means I'm granted unlimited rights in representing clients before the IRS nationwide. I am deeply rooted in the Washington, Oregon and Arizona areas and am happy to arrange meetings in person. I am here to assist with state taxes as well.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know more about me and my business. Without a doubt, my most fulfilling passion is helping others, whether that means providing tax or financial advice, services or just tackling life issues together and providing support. I love sharing my work and ideas, especially in the areas of tax as well as my vast knowledge of the internal and external workings of the IRS. With a strong background in tax and accounting, I spent the last 17+ years gaining skills auditing tax returns as an IRS Agent (in Arizona, Seattle and Portland). I still happily keep in touch with many of my IRS friends. My journey has taken me through a vast array of businesses. I learned so many fascinating things during my years as a field auditor. I have worked with wage earning taxpayers, small business owners, high wealth taxpayers, as well as large and international corporations.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with family (we’re 5 plus 1 goldendoodle) and friends, hot yoga and traveling whenever and wherever I can. Getting to know people and making personal connections has brought so much joy to my life. As an eldest daughter, I've learned that I enjoy supporting clients and taking charge to resolve issues. I thrive in new situations of interest in this field. I believe in lifelong learning and strive to grow personally and professionally with every new challenge I take on.

- EA - Scope: Unlimited IRS representation; Licensing is level and nationwide Scope: Federal (IRS/Treasury) Specialization is Tax-focused

My Story
Hello, I'm Angie, the founder of The Modern Preparer.
I have lived in the Seattle area for about 16 years now. I was raised in Portland and grew up spending most of my free time involved in the local Korean community. I also have many fond memories of spending my weekends on my great grandmother's farm in Eastern Washington just as my father had before joining the Airforce and serving America while stationed in South Korea...where I was born an American.
My college years as well as a significant portion of my IRS career were spent in Arizona.
In 2024, I left my job at the IRS after losing my mother (and the most loving childcare provider) to Bile Duct Cancer (Cholangiocarcinoma). I know people must hear this a lot, but this form of cancer was rare, unexpected and never curable. With this breathtaking loss, my priorities shifted and my perspective on life changed significantly. Leaving my career was never part of my life plan and I hope to potentially return to it one day.
I've spent most of my life here in America. Soon after leaving the IRS, I was forced to take a deep dive and learn many aspects of South Korean tax law due to my mother's unexpected passing. As a result, I gained a wealth of knowledge in tax law, culture and fine tuning my own Korean. After a 30-year hiatus, I have made several trips to Korea in the last few years to reconnect with family and have worked together with a Korean attorney and interpreter (due to the complexity of the issue) to finalize my mother's estate. As a result of this sudden reconnection with the other half of my DNA, I have found that I am still very much able to conversate, read and write in Korean as well (thanks mom). I'm here to help with any Korean/American issues, whether that means directly or referring you to someone who can assist.
The years I've spent making myself small are behind me as I evolve with each new life situation thrown my way. Life is not meant to be sedentary. Life is short and change is ok. Please reach out to me for ANYTHING. Thanks!

WASHINGTONIANS:
The IRS has extended federal tax filing and payment deadlines to August 5, 2026, for storm-affected Washington counties. Individuals, businesses, employers and retirees gain critical relief after December 2025 flooding.
